Cet album a été composé entre décembre 2020 et novembre 2021, puis amélioré jusqu’au printemps 2023.
C’est un premier album, enregistré en home studio (excepté And Nothing Else dont les voix ont été captées à Palm Studio), avec son lot de failles, de fêlures, de tout ce qui fait que nous sommes humains après tout.
Cet album n’aurait pas vu le jour sans la présence réconfortante et le soutien infaillible de mon amour, Audrey. Merci infiniment aux talents de MaloEmerson (ange-gardien vocal), de Loïc Molineri. Dear listener,
This album was composed between December 2020 and November 2021, and further refined until spring 2023. It’s a debut album, recorded in a home studio, (except for And Nothing Else where the vocals were captured at Palm Studio), with its fair share of flaws and cracks – everything that reminds us of our human nature.
This album would not have come to life without the comforting presence and unwavering support of my love, Audrey. Many thanks to the talents of MaloEmerson (vocal guardian angel), Loïc Molineri. (sensitive and beloved guitarist), Albina (aspiring violinist) and Guillaume Couteau (patient ear and attention to detail). 4. DREAMING IS NO SOLUTION
Les paroles de « Dreaming Is No Solution » sont un montage de poèmes de Jim Morrison (The Doors). Musique : style pop-rock, voix, guitares électriques saturées, basse, batterie. Au milieu du titre, sur le mot « siren », le chanteur nous donne justement une sirène de 13 secondes, sirène annonciatrice des tempêtes à venir car oui, rêver n’est pas une solution.
The lyrics of « Dreaming Is No Solution » are a montage of poems by Jim Morrison (The Doors). Music: pop-rock style, vocals, saturated electric guitars, bass, drums. In the middle of the track, on the word « siren », the singer gives us a 13-second siren, heralding the storms to come, because yes, dreaming is no solution.
11. ONE BREATH
« One Breath » c’est une histoire en apnée qui raconte l’ambiance vécue sous l’eau, dans le bleu de l’océan, les rayons de lumière, les bulles d’air vers la surface, des mots issus de l’expérience propres au chanteur-apnéiste Nicko Echoes. Musique : style pop plus ou moins inclassable, voix, guitares acoustique et électriques, nappes synthétiques, piano, basse, batterie, un morceau de 7.11min (le temps que tient en apnée statique le chanteur-fondateur) composé de 3 parties distinctes avec un jeu sur le tempo tentant de rendre le ressenti lors d’une apnée en profondeur. À noter, sur la 2ème partie, une tenue de note sur le mot « blue » de 31 secondes… un record ?
« One Breath » is an apnea story that recounts the atmosphere experienced underwater, in the blue of the ocean, the rays of light, the bubbles of air towards the surface, words drawn from the experience of singer-apneist Nicko Echoes. Music: a more or less unclassifiable pop style, vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, synthetic layers, piano, bass, drums, a 7.11min track (the time the singer-founder lasts in static apnea) made up of 3 distinct parts with a play on tempo attempting to render the feeling of deep apnea. Of particular note on the 2nd part is a 31-second note hold on the word « blue »… a record?
9. WARMING MY CLIMATE
En anglais puis en français, « Warming My Climate » est un texte mettant en accusation « l’homme blanc riche et vieux » face aux « minorités » qu’il asservit (femmes, noirs, enfants, LGBTQIA2+, animaux, arbres, planète), et intégrant un extrait du discours de Greta Thunberg à l’ONU en 2019. Musique : style slam-pop-rock, voix, piste synthétique, guitares acoustique et électrique, batterie, trompette, un titre court et punchy, énervé à souhait.
In English and then in French, « Warming My Climate » is a text indicting « the rich and old white man » in the face of the « minorities » he enslaves (women, blacks, children, LGBTQIA2+, animals, trees, planet), and incorporating an extract from Greta Thunberg’s speech at the UN in 2019. Music: slam-pop-rock style, vocals, synthetic track, acoustic and electric guitars, drums, trumpet, a short, punchy track, edgy as can be.
1. WE WERE ONLY KIDS
« We Were Only Kids » dénonce les violences sexuelles faites aux enfants et plus particulièrement la question de l’inceste. Musique : style pop, voix, piano, guitare acoustique, basse, batterie, violon, violoncelle, guitare électrique.
« We Were Only Kids » denounces sexual violence against children, and more specifically the issue of incest. Music: pop style, vocals, piano, acoustic guitar, bass, drums, violin, cello, electric guitar.
8. AND NOTHING ELSE
(Feat. MALO EMERSON)
« And Nothing Else » c’est une histoire d’amour impossible imaginée entre deux personnes, chantée en duo avec MaloEmerson. Musique : style pop-ballade, voix, piano, violon, violoncelle.
« And Nothing Else » is an imagined story of impossible love between two people, sung as a duet with MaloEmerson. Music: pop-ballad style, vocals, piano, violin, cello.
6. SUMMERTIME FOLK
« Summertime Folk » raconte une histoire d’amour le temps d’un été, un texte sur la passion, le désir, la chaleur, le ciel étoilé de juillet. Musique : style pop-folk, voix, guitare acoustique, orgue, basse, batterie, un titre léger et entraînant.
« Summertime Folk » tells the story of a summer love affair, a song about passion, desire, heat and the starry skies of July. Music: pop-folk style, vocals, acoustic guitar, organ, bass, drums, a light, catchy track.
7. LIGHT OF UKRAINE
Un titre originel qui s’appelait The True Light Of Love, devenu « Light Of Ukraine », en hommage à toutes les victimes de cette guerre. Musique : style pop-ballade, voix, piano, guitare électrique, basse, batterie, une mélodie envoûtante qui reste en tête longtemps après l’avoir écoutée.
The original title was The True Light Of Love, now « Light Of Ukraine », in tribute to all the victims of this war. Music: pop-ballad style, vocals, piano, electric guitar, bass, drums, a haunting melody that stays in your head long after you’ve heard it.
2. BLACK GOLD
« Black Gold » personnifie le pétrole et raconte son histoire récente sur deux siècles, avec ce qu’il a permis aux êtres humains en termes de domination sur le monde, sur le reste du vivant et sur le climat avec les conséquences que l’on connait aujourd’hui. Musique : style folk-pop, voix, guitare acoustique, banjo, basse, batterie, bruitages de chaînes (esclaves du pétrole), avec en préambule des extraits sonores issus du film There Will Be Blood de P.T. Anderson.
« Black Gold » personifies oil and recounts its recent history over two centuries, with what it has allowed human beings in terms of domination over the world, over the rest of the living world and over the climate, with the consequences we know today. Music: folk-pop style, vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo, bass, drums, chain sound effects (oil slaves), prefaced by sound extracts from P.T. Anderson’s film There Will Be Blood.
3. PANDEMIC LOVE
« Pandemic Love » c’est l’histoire amoureuse de deux adolescents qui se rencontrent juste avant la pandémie de Covid-19 et vont devoir vivre leurs sentiments à distance à cause du premier confinement, avant de finalement braver les interdits pour vivre leur histoire comme il se doit. Musique : style pop-folk-électro, voix, guitare acoustique, basse, nappes synthétiques, batterie aux sonorités électro.
« Pandemic Love » is the love story of two teenagers who meet just before the Covid-19 pandemic and have to live their feelings at a distance because of the first containment, before finally braving the prohibitions to live their story as it should be. Music: pop-folk-electro style, vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, synthetic strings, electro-sounding drums.
5. FOR A FATHERLESS SON
Le titre et les paroles de « For A Fatherless Son » sont un poème de Sylvia Plath, poétesse américaine morte à l’âge de 30 ans (suicide), un texte intime qui parle de l’absence du père. Musique : style folk, voix, guitare acoustique, piste sonore de chants d’oiseaux en fond, flûte, un titre sobre à la construction complexe, comme le poème.
The title and lyrics of ‘For A Fatherless Son’ are a poem by Sylvia Plath, an American poet who died at the age of 30 (by suicide). It’s an intimate text that speaks about the absence of the father. The music features a folk style, with vocals, acoustic guitar, a background track of bird songs, flute, and a subtly complex composition, much like the poem itself. »

BIO
Nicko Echoes (pseudonyme) est né à la toute fin des années 70 en France, dans les Alpes, où il habite toujours. Nicko fait ses premiers tests de chant à l’automne 2020 puis les envoie à celui qui devait devenir le co-fondateur du groupe (prénommé One Breath initialement). En quelques mois, de décembre 2020 à novembre 2021, la totalité des titres sont écrits, composés et arrangés. Ils seront améliorés jusque fin 2022, peu de temps avant que le co-fondateur du groupe ne préfère se retirer du projet pour des raisons personnelles. La sortie initiale de l’album étant prévue début 2023, elle est finalement reportée au mois de septembre.

Nicko Echoes (pseudonym) was born in the late 1970s in France, in the Alps, where he still lives. Nicko began experimenting with singing in the autumn of 2020 and sent his initial recordings to the person who would later become the co-founder of the band (originally named One Breath). Over the course of a few months, from December 2020 to November 2021, all the songs were written, composed, and arranged. They were further refined until late 2022, shortly before the co-founder of the band decided to step away from the project for personnel reasons. Originally scheduled for release in early 2023, the album has been finally reported to September.
